The three rules
of heating systems
Know the rules, no sweat

Heating systems run on three rules
You won't find them on the boiler. Or the heat pump. Or the spec sheet.
But every gas, oil and heat pump system is governed them, whether you know it or not.
The rules are hidden, but not optional
- Rule 1 — ΔT: Put the right amount of heat in the water.
- Rule 2 — Flow rate: Move enough water to deliver it.
- Rule 3 — Resistance: Make it easy enough for the water to get round.
They're all connected. Ignore the relationship between them and the system misbehaves.
Short cycling. Lukewarm radiators. Poor circulation. These are all symptoms that the three rules have not been followed.

It's the heating engineer's job to create the right system conditions for the heat demand, but that's hard if no-one's told you the rules.
This ebook strips the hidden system logic back to basics, giving you the missing starting point that underpins everything you learn next.
